After Massive Weight Loss, Mastopexy, Torsoplasty

This 50-year-old woman underwent gastric bypass and successfully lost 100 pounds. She subsequently had contouring surgeries with another physician including tummy-tuck, brachioplasty, liposuction, and lateral thigh and buttock lift. She came to Dr. Poulter with the desire to improve upon these surgeries as she still had a large amount of excess skin in her arms, back, and buttocks and fullness present in her abdomen. She also sought improvement for the droopy, flattened appearance of her breasts.

When she met with Dr. Poulter they reviewed her medical history and discussed her goals. Body contouring after massive weight loss involves many different steps for each patient, and depending on the patient’s body type may be performed in combination or separately.

Dr. Poulter first performed a torsoplasty (back lift) to remove excess tissue along her bra line on her back, and a mastopexy (breast lift) to restore her breasts to a more youthful position. The approximate 1.5 pounds of tissue removed from her back greatly improved her confidence, as tighter fitting tops lay smooth against her contour. Her breasts no longer have a droopy appearance and she is very pleased.

Six months after the breast and back surgery healed, she returned for revision brachioplasty (arm surgery) that had been performed years earlier. Dr. Poulter removed just under one pound of excess skin and fat from her upper arms giving her arms the smaller tighter appearance she’d been seeking for years.
