At 37 years old a screening mammogram identified left breast cancer in this patient. After discussion between her oncologist and meeting with Dr. Poulter, the patient decided on a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. Her first stage of surgery was the mastectomy with placement of the saline tissue expander which required serial fills to stretch skin to accommodate the permanent implant for the second phase of breast reconstruction. The second stage of the surgery was just 3 months later where a permanent high profile silicone implant was placed. As a final step in the reconstruction, this patient underwent 3D nipple tattooing to complete the full-reconstructed look.
