This 48-year-old woman came to Dr. Poulter to discuss bilateral breast reconstruction following a new diagnosis of breast cancer on the left and for her right breast that she’d had a mastectomy for breast cancer eight years earlier. She underwent mastectomy and implant expander type reconstruction immediately on the left and a delayed reconstruction on the right. She was expanded until she reached her desired size, and then her saline-filled expanders were replaced with softer 450 cc silicone gel implants. To complete her reconstruction, she had nipple reconstruction and tattoo. Six years later the right breast required elevation of the inferior fold to improve its appearance. She is very pleased with her outcome and natural appearance in clothing.
